In the spring of 1911, six prominent Jewish businessmen met to draft a Document of Incorporation for The Jewish Charities of St. Paul, Minnesota. The organization was created to provide charity to impoverished Jewish refugees fleeing Eastern Europe.
Today, Jewish Family Service of St. Paul (JFS) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides programs and services that help people from all walks of life meet the planned and unplanned changes in their lives.
